History The city of Camas was originally selected as a site for the LaCamas Colony Company's paper mill in 1883. The mill provided the basis for the area economy and Camas was officially incorporated as a town in 1906. Recently the industrial base has changed from the small mill town to industrial park as companies such as Hewlett Packard, Sharp, Linear Technology, Wafer Tech, Underwriters Laboratories and others have established thriving offices within the area.
Housing Situated near the picturesque downtown area the more established housing area offers a mixture of homes, some dating back to the time the town was incorporated in 1906 as well as newer construction homes. To the west of town is Prune Hill, situated on an ancient and dormant volcanic hill. This area provides a showcase for large homes providing river and mountain views as well as views of Portland city lights.
